Jack Huff’s

In 1897, a young Andy Huff traveled to Gatlinburg. He built many sawmills throughout the community. He initially welcomed the visiting lumbermen and those who worked in his mills into his home. As the company expanded, he decided that charging people who stayed in his home would be inhospitable. So he constructed his first little hotel below his house. The Mountain View, a 100-room, three-story hotel, was quickly added to the original structure. Up until the 1980s, The Mountain View was a true Gatlinburg landmark.

Jack Huff was born in this Gatlinburg family in 1903. As he grew, he saw Mountain View evolve into one of its finest establishments and become a popular destination for celebrities of the day. As the Mountain View expanded, Gatlinburg saw change. Transforming from a sleepy mountain village to a strong, modern-day entrance to the Smokies.

The charm of Gatlinburg left Jack spellbound. But the surrounding mountains had even more captivating allure. Thus, in 1926, Jack decided to erect a lodge on Mount LeConte to carry forward the family tradition of hospitality. Nearly three decades later, they ventured out of their mountain residence to construct Jack Huff’s in 1959. Settling at one of the most attractive and popular spots in the town, the establishment is now managed by Cookie and her husband, Bruce.

Jack Huff’s is a family tradition for so many Gatlinburg visitors. Our location and amenities are ideal. Only a short stroll will take you downtown to the plentiful shops and restaurants.
