Georgetown County Historical Society Museum

The Georgetown County Museum provides intriguing links between rivers, marshes, rice, muskets, revolution, and numerous other areas of life. Georgetown is South Carolina’s third oldest city, founded in 1729.

This thoroughly fascinating collection of artifacts presents a complex picture of all facets of coastal South Carolina life. Because of this, the Georgetown County Historical Society launched the museum as a side project in 1955. They decided that a location was required to share these artifacts and representations of nearly 300 years of history with the broader public after years of collecting county treasures. Commemorating almost all facets of Lowcountry South Carolina history while giving fresh life to an already vivid path.
