Fox and Parrot Tavern
They have been hosting St. Patrick’s Day festivities since 1998, drawing in people from around the world. You can enjoy authentic Irish beer, traditional pub fare, and a themed dining experience. The Fox and Parrot Tavern is located in the Glades community of Gatlinburg, TN, so you might want to stop and shop before you dine (or use shopping as an excuse to walk off some of your meal). The whole month of March is dedicated to Irish history, at the Titanic Museum, and pays tribute to the 159 Irish passengers and crew aboard the legendary vessel. March 17th is opening day at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge! They kick off their 2018 season with their Festival of Nations. Complementing the Irish spirit is JigJam, a blend of bluegrass and traditional Irish music. While there may be exotic food vendors onsite, you can get some fish and chips at the Front Porch Cafe. There are plenty of other things to do at Dollywood like watching craftsmen, visiting the Chasing Rainbows Museum, hopping on some rides, and enjoying the other spectacular entertainment available daily. This store, located in the Village district of downtown Gatlinburg, has been open for over 25 years with a variety of products available. Most of what you’ll find here has been imported directly from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. They can be found at 634 Parkway #26.
If you’re looking for other things to do, consider taking a hike on one of the many trails within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There are plenty of scenic trails with waterfalls as the highlight, like Grotto Falls, Laurel Falls, or Ramsey Cascades. If you are renting a cabin, why not create your own little St. Patrick’s Day party with some whiskey tasting? Ole Smoky Distillery has a whiskey division, so you don’t have to go far to pick up some local flavors to mix in with authentic Irish offerings. They do offer a green Key Lime moonshine at the distillery.
