Beating the heat is something you can easily do on your trip to the Smoky Mountains. Besides the many activities that include water like whitewater rafting, tubing, or water fun at Dollywood and Dollywood’s Splash Country, did you know that the area is home to a bunch of great waterpark resorts where you can stay and play in one place? We’ve assembled some of our favorites in the list below.
Located right off the Pigeon Forge strip, the Country Cascades Waterpark Resort is conveniently located next to many attractions and shopping locations. As a resort guest, you’ll have exclusive access to 80,000 gallons of water fun! There is the 300-foot long body slide that speeds down four stories, a raft slide that allows for one or two riders, and a water playground dubbed “Splashaway Bay,” with 30 interactive elements and two slides. In the colder months, you can enjoy the indoor pool in the Country Tower.
There are so many things to do at Governor’s Crossing in Sevierville, no matter your age! The indoor waterpark offers an area just for toddlers, two high-speed slides for adrenaline junkies, as well as a zero-depth entry pool. They have a sauna and hot tub for adults and offer water basketball/volleyball in a pool as well. The outdoor water park has a water slide, lazy river, giant pool, kiddie pool, and playground area (no water with this one). They step it up by also offering a 9-hole miniature golf course as well.
Music Road Resort Hotel & Inn
Both the hotel and inn have their own waterpark with varying features, although both have an indoor heated pool and hot tub that is open 24 hours. The Music Road Hotel offers a 60-foot water slide, lazy river, diving area, and mushroom fountain for kids. The Music Road Inn also has a 60-foot water slide and lazy river. If you have small children, then you would love the kiddie pool that includes a mushroom fountain as well.
Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort & Spa
Enjoy fun and excitement year-round in Gatlinburg with Wild Bear Falls, an indoor/outdoor waterpark sporting a retractable roof. It offers a lazy river, several slides, a zero-depth kiddie pool and slide, and a treehouse playground. There are also two hot tub areas. You don’t need to be a resort guest to enjoy the Wild Bear Falls. They offer day rates as well as deals for three and five-day admission. Kids ages three and under are free. Walk-ins are welcome, but you might want to get there early.
Wilderness at the Smokies
It’s more than just a waterpark—it’s a family fun zone! They have a bunch of indoor attractions besides water-type fun like laser tag, a ropes course, arcade, and bowling alley. There are three waterparks included with a resort stay. Wild WaterDome is a 66,000-square-foot indoor waterpark with a see-through roof that includes a wave pool, slides, a raft ride, water playground, and hot tub spa. Lake Wilderness is outdoors and offers a children’s pool area with interactive elements and a lounge deck for parents to watch their kids. It also has several water slides, a lazy river, and private cabanas. The third waterpark, Salamander Springs, features a nearly four-foot-tall play structure with 50 interactive elements and a slide. Perfect for kids, there is a zero-depth pool and bounce swings for toddlers at the Minnow Marsh and Wildflower Lagoon area. You’ll also find a large activity pool and rapids ride at Salamander Springs. Wilderness at the Smokies is located in Sevierville, TN.
On a budget, but don’t want to miss out on some awesome water fun? Try Quality Inn & Suites West Waterpark in Knoxville, TN. Their indoor pool room sports a zero-depth kids playground with a dunk bucket and other interactive features and slides, as well as a giant heated pool.
