Wears Valley Ranch

Wears Valley Ranch is a home and school for children in crisis, all on a 120 acre working Ranch that adjoins the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A visit includes scenic campus tour, seeing the animals, and a trip to the chapel art gallery.

Description

Since 1992, children have found a safe haven at Wears Valley Ranch. Children who live at the Ranch receive an individualized education, counseling, a safe environment, and a home with staff who are committed to their well-being. Although they accept children from across the United States, the need in East Tennessee is staggering. Consequently, every year thousands of children enter the foster care system in our region. Above all children are accepted regardless of their race or religious background.

Wears Valley Ranch is next to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and offers a perfect setting for healthy living. Furthermore, it is tucked away against the park’s scenic backdrop. Not only that but rolling meadows, where horses graze and play. Because of the setting, all of nature’s beauty is seen from four spacious residences, each of which may house up to eight students.

The scenic campus has grown to include an equine program. Even more engaging are longhorn cattle, sheep, and chicken, a bountiful garden, an art gallery, and a quaint chapel. Additionally, visitors will have opportunities to see the animals and gardens. In fact, they can also view an exquisite art collection, and tour one of our four homes that our families live in. Afterward, they can also enjoy a delicious scoop of ice cream made at the Ranch.

At Wears Valley Ranch, we believe that each child is special and is worth our love and support. For this purpose, we provide a home environment rather than dormitories. Moreover, our girls and boys live in non-institutional homes with houseparents who are investing their lives in the lives of the children. To be sure, the atmosphere within each home is one of love and encouragement where each child can know the security of boundaries and the acceptance of unconditional love.
